New Season Junior Swimwear has arrived

The Juniors are taking a fresh approach this Season and that even goes for our swimwear!

We are doing things a little bit differently, but sometimes change is a good thing.

Please find attached our "How to Look Cool Guide" which shows you photos of our new swimwear range. This range is available at the Surf Club office and most junior training sessions and although there is limited stock to buy, if you pre-order this swimwear you receive a 10% discount on your total order. You can definitely try this on before you order, so head down to the Surf Club during office hours or contact juniors@northburleighslsc.com.au for further information.

There is a real buzz around the North Burleigh SLSC these days and it's not just because of the fantastic weather... Nipper season is fast approaching!

Junior Memberships are now open for all New and Renewing Members. At North Burleigh SLSC, we value our volunteers and our members and we know how busy life can be, so we are doing all that we can to make things easier for you.

If you are thinking of introducing your child to Surf Life Saving, then Nippers is the best place to do it. Nippers are open to children from the age of 5 through to 13 years old.

Surf Life Saving is an amazing activity for growing a child's confidence, knowledge and skills in the beach environment. Not only will your child have fun and meet new friends, they will become part of an iconic organisation that has served the Australian community for over 100 years.

THINGS TO KNOW

• Copy of Birth Certificate required for first time members
• At least one parent must join as a financial member
• Sign-On and Pool Proficiency will be completed on the day (see below for age relevant requirements)
  
• Remember to bring goggles, swimwear & towel
• Junior Swimwear available to purchase on the day
  
• Payment can be made by cash, cheque or credit card

POOL SWIM PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS
Ages Under 6's to 14's

Under 6's - Kick off the Wall with face in water and 30 sec survival float
Under 7's - Torpedo (push off wall) with face in the water and 30 sec survival float
Under 8's - 50m swim freestyle and 1 min survival float
Under 9's - 50m swim freestyle and 1 min survival float
Under 10's - 100m swim freestyle and 1.5 min survival float
Under 11's - 100m swim freestyle and 2 min survival float
Under 12's - 200m swim freestyle and 2 min survival float
Under 13's - 300m swim freestyle and 3 min survival float
Under 14's - 400m swim freestyle under 9 mins and 3 min survival float

Tweed River Festival Paddle Challenge - 24th October 2009

This is one of the Juniors largest fundraisers for the season and we really need people to help cook, serve and assist with water safety. It's a 6am start for set up with competition starting at 9am QLD time. Remember, all volunteers will be awarded points towards the Age Group Volunteer Award.

Head Coach, Chris Wood has been encouraging children to compete or just come along and support their fellow team-mates.
